A Message From The President
In this new millennium, the home healthcare industry is projected to experience tremendous growth as a result of the increasing number of elderly who are living longer. All Americans will face the challenge of caring for this larger, older and potentially sicker senior population composed of our grandparents, parents, brothers and sisters. For working Americans, the challenges will be not only financing their care through today's main payors, such as Medicare and Medicaid, but also in providing more and more direct support as their family caregivers.
More than ever, homebound elders and their families are seeking reliable, proven local providers to deliver in-home assistance for themselves and family members who are not fully recovered when leaving the hospital or nursing home after a shorter stay. More and more health insurance plans are seeking to bring medical costs under control using home health for acute, short-term skilled nursing and rehabilitative therapy care.
Once more, all payors are seeing that when properly used, home healthcare can allow patients with long-term care needs to remain independent longer and avoid institutional care that is less preferred and more costly. The expansion of coverage for home healthcare versus nursing home care under many long-term care policies demonstrates this recognition.
Alacare Home Health & Hospice is an Alabama owned and operated organization founded on the principles of continuous quality improvement and exceptional customer service. Since 1970, Alacare has provided needed assistance to patients, caregivers and our many referral sources by listening to and responding to their individual home healthcare needs.
Alacare provides a comprehensive array of in-home services. Alacare recognizes that achieving a successful outcome for each individual in its diverse patient population requires us to employ the best nurses, rehabilitation therapists, home care aides, medical social workers and nutritionists using the latest medical and information technology. To meet the challenge of an ever-changing body of medical and nursing knowledge, Alacare maintains a unique Continuing Education Program that keeps our healthcare professionals current on the latest proven care methods.
For many years, Alacare has been recognized not only as Alabama's oldest private Medicare-certified home health agency, but as one of Alabama's home care leaders. Alacare maintains its leadership position by working closely with physicians, medical facilities, payors, patients, caregivers and the interested public. By enhancing our services, increasing our staff's expertise and expanding our coverage area, Alacare continues to grow and lead the way for home healthcare in Alabama.
