Tina Luker WINS NURSING Award

Greenville, AL—Tina Luker, RN, has been awarded the Pat Hyche Nursing Award by Alacare Home Health & Hospice.

“The Pat Hyche Nursing Award was created to recognize the Alacare nurse who demonstrated extraordinary professionalism, compassion, and service to patients and colleagues during the previous year,” said John Beard, JD, MBA, President of Alacare Home Health & Hospice. “Tina certainly fits that description.”

The recipient of the Pat Hyche Nursing Award recipient must have exceeded the demands of his/her position and contributed extra time, energy and resources to improving life and providing service to the patients of Alacare Home Health & Hospice.

Ms. Luker, Branch Director of Alacare in Greenville, is described as an upbeat team player with a ready smile who is always willing to roll up her sleeves and share in the hard work. In nominating her for this award, it was obvious that her peers and co-workers hold her in high regard. Even though she is in a management position, she regularly helps out by making patient visits. Patients and their families will sometimes call her personally to ask care questions, and they follow her advice. Floyce Salter, RN, who works with Luker in Alacare’s Greenville branch said, “Tina makes it a point to know all she can about each patient in the branch.” In just one example of this Luker’s dedication to patients, at Thanksgiving she picked pecans from her own tree and delivered them personally to a wheelchair-bound patient who needed them to complete Thanksgiving dinner. Her personal goal is to make sure every patient’s needs are met—physically and emotionally.

“Tina is an excellent example of the true meaning of our Agency’s philosophy of care,” Beard added.

Alacare President Beard, Luker, and Alacare Chief Financial Officer, Gene Sykes.
