Grace Reid Recognized as Alacare Volunteer of the Month
Birmingham, Alabama—Grace Reid is living proof that volunteerism has no age limit. Having just celebrated her 87th birthday, the youthful-looking Ms. Reid was just named “Volunteer of the Month” at Alacare Home Health & Hospice in Birmingham.
After living in Montgomery for 60 years, Ms. Reid recently moved to the Rocky Ridge Retirement Community in Birmingham. In an effort to connect with her new community, she decided to put her handiwork skills to use for the good of others.
“We have a group of about 10 special project volunteers at Rocky Ridge Retirement Community who do crafts for our patients each month,” said Valeri Cowart, Alacare’s Volunteer Coordinator. “Grace individually contributed more hours than any other volunteer during the month, spending 60 hours making lap blankets for our hospice patients. She is a real treasure among our volunteers.”
