The owners of Alacare Home Health & Hospice and South Hall Storage have purchased the former Siemens office and warehouse and nearly four acres at Alabama 150 and Interstate 459 for $4.62 million.
The new owners will renovate the 61,000 square feet of warehouse space into climatized storage units similar to the ones South Hall operates off U.S. 31 in Hoover and off U.S. 280 in Inverness, where Alacare also has its corporate headquarters.
Alacare plans to relocate its corporate headquarters into the 21,500 square feet of office space in the two-story building, bringing around 110 jobs.
John Beard, president of Alacare and partner in South Hall, said the Inverness storage building stays above 90 percent occupancy and the Hoover location is always nearly full. The old Siemens building will allow for a new warehouse while the relocation of the Alacare offices will allow more space in Inverness to be converted to climatized storage, Beard said.
Beard's family started South Hall storage about 15 years ago in Hoover.
The Siemens building was brokered by the industrial team at Eason, Graham & Sandner Inc., which consists of brokers Mark Byers, John Coleman and Hurston Raley.
Raley also represented Athens Paper Co. in a lease for 52,600 square feet of space in Airport Highway Park downtown. The space is the 11th warehouse for the Nashville-based paper and paper products distributor. It also has a Huntsville location.
Graham & Co. was broker for the landlord.
