This marks the tenth time the Board has approved Alacare’s applications to expand into new counties. Under the contiguous county authority from their office in Tuscaloosa County, Alacare has already been serving Greene County. “The Board’s vote means that we will now be even better able to serve the people of Greene County, because now we have the option to open an office there,” said John G. Beard, JD, MBA, President of Alacare Home Health & Hospice. “Alacare can also serve Sumter and Marengo Counties now, since they are contiguous with Greene County.” Although the three counties bordering Lamar were already in Alacare’s service area, Lamar County was not. “With this new Certificate of Need approval, Alacare Home Health & Hospice now has the right to open an office in Lamar to serve its citizens and can provide better serve in the contiguous counties of Pickens, Fayette and Marion,” said Nanette Sims-Perry, JD, Alacare’s General Counsel. “The ability to provide care from offices within the community means that homebound Medicare patients should see the greatest benefit from this expansion,” agreed Mark Cook, MBA, RN Alacare’s Chief Clinical Officer and Chief Operating Officer. “Alacare Home Health & Hospice has been a respected home care provider since 1970. The agency has a longstanding commitment to seeking approval for CON authority to expand into Alabama counties in which the State Health Plan has determined that residents need better access to home care,” said Alacare’s Corporate Medical Director, Tara Bryant, MD. Sims-Perry added, “We are pleased with the trust the CON Board has once again shown in our organization to serve our fellow Alabamians by approving these latest applications for us.” About Alacare Alacare Home Health & Hospice is Alabama's oldest and largest privately owned, Medicare-certified home health agency.
