Brouillette, MPH, MBA, is the recipient of the Shades Valley Rotary Club’s 2005 Vocational Achievement Award. She is the Chief Executive Officer of Alacare Home Health & Hospice. Ms. Brouillette has frequently been recognized in the community for her business skills. She was named one of the Birmingham Business Journal’s “Top 40 Under 40,” a Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Person of the Year in 2004, and she is recognized as one of Birmingham’s Top Women Business Owners. Because Ms. Brouillette also feels strongly that successful people need to nurture the next generation of business professionals, she participates in events like the UAB School of Public Health Alumni Career Round Table. In announcing Ms. Brouillette’s award, Paul Sharbel, Chairman of the Shades Valley Rotary’s Selection Committee for Vocational Awards, said, “Susan has helped build Alacare into one of the most visible and viable groups of caring professionals helping those in need.” Despite the demands of her career, Ms. Brouillette is committed to community service. She is on the Boards of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama, the Shades Valley Rotary Club and the Birmingham Chapter of the American Cancer Society, for which she has appeared in televised public education spots in 2003, 2004 and 2005. . Ms. Brouillette served as 2004-2005 Secretary for the Shades Valley Rotary Club—an active supporter of community and international service work—and became Club Treasurer on July 1st. The Shades Valley Rotary Club meets every Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
