Senior community Service employment program (scsep)
If you are 55 or older with a low income, the Jefferson County Office of Senior Citizens Services (OSCS) Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) can help! Thanks to funding and support from the Alabama Department of Senior Services and Senior Service America, SCSEP will help seniors refresh their job-seeking skills and assist in helping them re-enter into the work force. This includes placement in a part-time community service assignment at a non-profit or governmental organization where seniors will receive supervision and valuable on-the-job training for approximately 20 hours per week at the minimum wage. In the program, seniors will participate in a FIESTA (Finding Incredible Employment [thru] Skills Training and Application), which provides intensive job-seeking skills training for participants enrolled in the program. If you are a senior in need of training for employment and would like to learn more about the SCSEP program, call Lucy Lipp at 325-1416.
